Community members are invited to help conquer cancer at our Open Garden Fundraiser on August 18th from 3pm-7pm at our residence, 21 Turner Road in Weston. Come wander our beautiful berry patches, perennial gardens, and vegetable gardens in support of The Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk.
Sip wines from Spain and Vermont, craft Vermont beers and enjoy other non-alcoholic beverages and tasty hors d’oeuvres from many of our awesome local restaurants and farms. Bid on silent auction items from the West River Farmer’s Market vendors and other local businesses. There is a $25 minimum donation at the door and all funds raised will go to support The Jimmy Fund and Dana Farber Cancer Institute via Carol MacLaury’s Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk team #grahamstrong.
When you make a gift to the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk, you are directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Team #grahamstrong is in honor of now 12 years old Graham, our grandson and brain cancer survivor,  this year’s team fundraising goal is $10,000, the Walk group of 9000 walkers hopes to raise $9,000,000 this year topping last year’s record of $8,626,174. Carol finished the 26.2 mile route last year taking 69,128 steps over 11 hours and 40 minutes raising $6325 toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer! The Jimmy Fund solely supports Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, raising funds for adult and pediatric cancer care and research to improve the chances of survival for cancer patients around the world.
